About The Position

Saw Operator I sets up and operates a single-blade saw. The role involves reading production scheduling sheets and identifying the material required for the operation. The operator ensures materials and finished products meet quality standards, follows safety and quality procedures, maintains production records, and helps keep the work area and equipment safe and orderly.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Minimum 3 months of experience using saws or similar equipment.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
Some experience in manufacturing and assembling is preferred.
Working knowledge of basic math is preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensure material meets quality specifications, including grade, size, and moisture content.
Set up equipment according to specifications.
Feed material according to specifications.
Periodically check equipment to ensure specifications are being met.
Offload and stack material according to established procedures; when required, cover, label, and band components or finished products.
Ensure the work area is safe, clean, and organized and that equipment is safe to operate.
Complete the pre-shift-startup equipment inspection checklist and report problems or concerns.
Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
Maintain production records as required.
Check materials and finished products for compliance with standards.
Follow established safety and quality procedures, rules, and standards.
Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) as required.
Perform preventive maintenance as specified.
Participate in safety, continuous improvement (CI), and other programs and meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
