About The Position

Boyd Thermal by Eaton is seeking a Saw Operator I to operate saw equipment in the saw room, cutting materials to length according to customer specifications and handling them to meet cosmetic requirements. The role involves maintaining quality and safety standards, housekeeping, process integrity, monitoring calibration of measuring equipment, and ensuring machinery and tools perform safely and optimally. The position also includes cross-training in Sanding, Deburring, Punching, Straightening, CNC, and Drilling within the Machining department.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1-2 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic work instructions and communications.
  • Ability to follow written work instructions and directions.
  • Basic understanding and comprehension of technical language, tools, and specifications.
  • Blueprint Reading skills.
  • Basic Shop Math skills.
  • Ability to stand for 7.5 hours or more on concrete floors.
  • Ability to lift 35lb or more (team lift).
  • Ability to hold parts, some heavy, for long periods of time if sanding or cutting.

Responsibilities

  • Operate saw equipment to cut materials to length per customer specifications.
  • Handle materials in a specified manner to accommodate cosmetic requirements.
  • Maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Perform housekeeping duties.
  • Ensure process integrity.
  • Monitor calibration of all measuring equipment used.
  • Monitor machinery and tools to ensure safe, correct, and optimum performance.
  • Maintain professional conduct in the workplace.
  • Cross-train in Sanding, Deburring, Punching, Straightening, CNC, and Drilling.
  • Get job assignments and communicate with the previous operator at the beginning of the shift.
  • Perform a quick check before starting the machine to ensure safe and correct operations.
  • Set up CNC manual and automatic cut-off saws as required.
  • Maintain equipment in the Saw Room, including changing filters for the saw chip system.
  • Verify paperwork, including print number, revision levels, operation sequence, materials, program, and check sheet for accuracy and consistency.
  • Run the first set of parts and check dimensions against the print to ensure consistency with the check sheet.
  • Run jobs efficiently, organized, and safely, meeting or exceeding the hourly rate.
  • Follow work instructions on the print and/or work order sequence.
  • Clock in and out of the work order and sequence.
  • Maintain workflow and perform quality audits as required.
  • Make adjustments as required with proper authorization.
  • Change dull or broken saw blades using appropriate procedures.
