About The Position

The Saw Crew Foreperson is a working foreperson who supervises a crew while completing jobs. This role ensures that established safety and quality values are followed, provides work direction, and promotes teamwork. The Foreperson represents the company on and off job sites, communicates effectively with general contractors and sub-contractors, and implements company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with ISO, OSHA standards, and DOT regulations. This role involves hiring local union members when required and discharging crew members if necessary. The Foreperson provides daily reports on job progress and estimated completion dates, interfaces with customers to ensure satisfactory job completion, and communicates all problems to the superintendent in a timely manner. Responsibilities also include verifying saw details, completing sawing systematically, using technical knowledge to expertly saw openings and confirm the work of others, and completing work in a manner that minimizes cleanup. Other duties may be assigned by the superintendent and/or management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Five years minimum of saw laborer experience
  • Familiarity of general construction practices
  • Adapts readily to change
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to plan the required work to complete a job in a timely and efficient manner
  • Deep understanding of sawing equipment and techniques
  • Ability to address conflict and collaborate towards a solution
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner at all organizational levels
  • Ability to navigate various technological devices

Responsibilities

  • Work concurrently with the crew to complete the job while supervising.
  • Ensure that established safety and quality values are followed.

  • Provide daily reports to administrative personnel and superintendent on the job’s progress and estimated completion dates.
  • Interface for internal and external customers to ensure satisfactory completion of the job.
  • Communicate all problems to the superintendent in a timely manner.
  • Verify saw details prior to starting the job.
  • Complete sawing in a systematic manner to ensure completion.
  • Use technical knowledge to expertly saw openings and confirm the work completed by others.
  • Complete work in a manner that minimizes cleanup work.
