About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) seeks an Associate Satellite Systems Engineer to serve as a Global Positioning System (GPS) Navigation Payload Systems Engineer. This role supports the GPS sustainment program within the Intelligence & Weapon Systems (SI&WS) division, located at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado. The position involves supporting the GPS IIF satellite constellation, monitoring its health and capabilities, and providing reports and expertise to the U.S. Space Force. The sustainment efforts are expected to continue through the life of the Block IIF satellites, with a contract running from 2022 to 2031. The engineer will become a subject matter expert for the Navigation Payload and GPS performance trending and analysis, working closely with other subject matter experts and interacting daily with U.S. Space Force personnel.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of related experience.
  • Systems engineering or related experience.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • This position requires an active (interim or final) secret or above U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time support to on-orbit GPS Navigation Payload and satellite operations, including investigation of and resolution of satellite anomalies.
  • Perform GPS Navigation Payload trending and analysis.
  • Maintain software scripts used for data parsing and trending analysis in C#, Python, Java, and MATLAB.
  • Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify basic lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
  • Evaluate customer and operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and assure compatibility of all physical, functional, and program interfaces.
  • Perform analyses to optimize total system of systems and system architecture.
  • Perform analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance, and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
  • Support planning, organization, implementation, and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management, and technology readiness assessment processes.
