About The Position

QED Systems, LLC, is currently recruiting a Senior Satellite Communications Engineer to join our team at APG, MD to support our customer, Project Manager Intelligence Systems & Analytics (PM IS&A). The ideal candidate will be an experienced SATCOM Engineer who will lead the technical integration of emerging satellite communication devices into Army Intelligence hardware systems. This role will act as the principal liaison between the system hardware engineering team and external military components, ensuring that advanced over-the-air transport capabilities are seamlessly embedded into tactical and strategic intel products. Primary mission is to engineer resilient SATCOM architectures, synchronize efforts across the Department of War (DoW), and successfully transition all technical knowledge and prototypes into fully fielded products.

Requirements

  • Detail-oriented with excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Background in Radio Frequency (RF) transmission theory, space-based communication systems, and hardware-level systems engineering.
  • Proven experience integrating complex communication systems into military platforms, preferably within intelligence or tactical command and control domains.
  • Deep understanding of Army and Joint SATCOM management policies (e.g., AR 25-13, CJCSI 6250.01) and terminal certification processes.
  • Strong technical leadership and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to facilitate knowledge transfer between cross-functional engineering teams.
  • ACTIVE CLEARANCE LEVEL REQUIRED: Top Secret w/SCI eligibly
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree may be in Electrical, Electronic, System, Software or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of related work experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the system hardware engineering team to design, configure, and integrate new wideband and narrowband SATCOM terminals (e.g., WGS, MUOS, commercial equivalents) into existing and future Army Intel platforms.
  • Engineer secure transmission architectures and interfaces, ensuring all new devices maintain compatibility with the Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN) and meet rigorous Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS) operational measures.
  • Work closely with allied Army components to synchronize engineering efforts, align with enterprise SATCOM roadmaps, and eliminate developmental redundancies.
  • Lead the technology transfer process by meticulously documenting system configurations, integration procedures, test plans, and engineering solutions. Ensure a smooth transition of knowledge from the research and development phase to production and sustainment teams.
  • Conduct rigorous continuity testing, alignment, and calibration of RF and SATCOM systems under simulated tactical conditions to guarantee maximum operational efficiency and cybersecurity compliance prior to product fielding.
  • Define and manage development of SIGINT systems and payload architectures.
  • Support architecture trade studies.
  • Define and validate system requirements and interfaces.
  • Develop system-level CONOPS development, functional analysis and decomposition.
  • Perform risk reduction activities.
  • Support system-level integration and validation planning and execution with product managers.
