About The Position

The Baruch STEP Academy is an academic enrichment program focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and providing college preparation. Managed through the CUNY Research Foundation, we serve 200 middle and high school students throughout the city each year. Website: https://step.baruch.cuny.edu | Blog: https://baruchstep.wordpress.com/ | Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/baruchstep/ Position: In-Person High School Instructor Course Title: SAT Math Preparation | Schedule: 10:35am-12pm Course Description: The course will prepare upper class high school students for the math section (Geometry, Trigonometry, Algebra I and II) of the SAT. Test taking tips and strategies that will be reviewed.

Requirements

Availability for each program day from 10:30am-12pm
Strong background in the subject area
Experience in a teaching capacity within subject area
Experience with designing/implementing a course curriculum
Have a strong classroom management style

Nice To Haves

Degree in mathematics or related subject
Prior teaching experience with high school or undergraduate students
Ability to engage students with creative lessons and innovative teaching style
Possess good interpersonal skills with adolescents and a strong understanding of their maturity levels
Enthusiasm for the subject with flexibility in adjusting curriculum to reflect students' abilities

Responsibilities

Plan and teach original course curriculum
Evaluate student and group performance
Provide staff with measurable results in student learning through assessments
Monitor and maintain student attendance records
Reassess curriculum based on student needs, interest, and understanding of material
Other duties as assigned
