About The Position

Master data management (MDM) is essential to the effective running of our business. Master data is a single source of business data used across multiple systems, applications, and processes. When master data is accurate, complete and created on time it facilitates process efficiency and allows the business functions to make better informed decisions. High quality master data is an asset to our business. This role is responsible for creating and maintaining master data primarily relating to SAP material, customer, vendor, and customer pricing master data domains. As part of the MDM team, this role is responsible for ensuring the highest level of data integrity, governance, and service to internal customers. This is an entry level role where data skills and business acumen are acquired through on the job development during the creation and maintenance of master data elements that support the day to day operations. This role will support developing and improving master data management to increase operational efficiency, strengthen data governance, and increase data value through deployment of user-friendly processes, system tools, and data architecture simplification.

Requirements

  • Functional/Technical Skills – Able to work with large data sets and quickly build beginner level SAP skills.
  • Data Governance – Able to grasp and exhibit good data management practices that enable accurate creation of master data items in SAP.
  • Business Acumen – Able to understand organizational structures, functional roles and responsibilities and basic business processes, as they relate to the master data function.
  • Collaboration with the Business – Exhibits interpersonal skills required to interface with stakeholders from the business and build trusting relationships to enable master data set ups and issue resolution.
  • Process Management – Able to demonstrate a commitment to customer service, perform work within established SLAs, and follow procedures.
  • Time Management – Can multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Candidates may be new to SAP and Master Data, but should be able to grasp master data concepts and execute novice level set ups and be able to train peers in what they have learned.
  • Able to understand the impact of master data within the organization and systems for applicable data domains.
  • Is inquisitive and thorough in approach.
  • 1+ years of business experience.
  • Exhibits professionalism.
  • Has a basic understanding of key elements of business cycles (Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Record to Report).
  • Exhibits interpersonal skills.
  • Appreciates what constitutes good customer service and displays commitment to delivering.
  • Developing the ability to manage conflict and drives towards win/win solutions.
  • Establishes trusted relationships with business partners.
  • Able to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with key stakeholders both within and outside of the MDM team to get the job done.

  • Follows SOPs and is able to improve documentation.
  • Understands SLAs and works to adhere to them.
  • May be able to identify the need for a process or tool change.
  • Displays a passion for working in master data management.

Responsibilities

  • Able to use Excel to transform large data sets
  • Able to learn SAP navigation and basic TCodes used in creating and updating master data
  • Able to work from Standard Operating Procedures to gain an understanding of master data set up processes and rules
  • Able to partner with stakeholders within the business to support their master data requests and resolve issues
  • Ability to learn new applications and tools that are commonly used in a professional setting
  • Ability to manage multiple work packages in a fast paced environment
  • May support data governance tasks that improve overall data controls and quality.
  • Able to improve process documentation.
  • May support period close activities.
  • Completes daily, weekly and monthly processes and tasks to the required standard.
  • Is able to manage a queue and create/report SLA adherence.
  • Can drive corrective action when SLAs are not met.
  • Able to take on additional assignments outside of working in the queue.
