About The Position

The Sanitor position is responsible for properly cleaning all production and process equipment to ensure a clean and bacteria-free plant. This role involves disassembling, cleaning, rinsing, and sanitizing product contact machinery, as well as reassembling equipment after cleaning. The Sanitor will also be responsible for filling out "Pre-Op/Check List Sheets," chemically cleaning machinery while adhering to safety procedures like LOTO, and using 3M Biotrace units for cleanliness testing. Training will be provided for CIP (Clean in Place) techniques. The role requires compliance with all safety, SQF, and GMP practices, and ensuring adherence to corporate standards for food safety, quality, and facility cleanliness. Participation in the "Daily Safety Captain Program" and following the "pig program" for product line cleaning are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the Sanitor may monitor and coordinate with the packaging team for product tank changes during overnight runs. Food safety responsibilities include ensuring work is completed safely and sanitarily, reporting suspicious activities, inspecting work areas for contamination, and completing proper documentation of cleaning processes. Pre-start up inspections are also required to ensure a sanitary condition and no product contamination risk.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions.
  • Must be capable of using 3M Biotrace units to determine the cleanliness of equipment by following “sanitor self- swabbing program”.
  • Must be trained and capable on “pigging” of product lines from processing kitchen (where applicable).
  • Must have the ability to monitor and coordinate with packaging team then change and or switch product tanks during overnight runs (where applicable).
  • Must be able to perform work in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Must be able to report any suspicious activities anywhere in or around the plant.
  • Must be able to inspect work area for any possible product contamination issues before, during, and after sanitation activities.
  • Must be able to complete proper documentation on all cleaning process including chemical concentrations, temperature, cycle times, etc.
  • Must be able to complete pre-start up inspections of your area to ensure no product contamination risk exists and the area is in a sanitary condition.
  • Must be able to maintain proper safety procedures including LOTO for pneumatic, electrical, etc. of energy sources.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety, SQF, and GMP practices.
  • Must be able to ensure compliance with corporate standards and systems to monitor food safety, food safety culture, quality and facility cleanliness.
  • Must be able to participate in the “Daily Safety Captain Program”.
