About The Position

Cleans and maintains plant and related facilities. This role involves detailed cleaning and sanitization of process equipment, floors, and various areas within the manufacturing plant and warehouses. The position requires adherence to strict safety and sanitation policies, including food safety and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School education.
  • Good vision, hearing, color vision, speaking, and finger dexterity skills.
  • Ability to perform close work.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, climb, kneel, reach, push, pull, lift and/or carry up to approximately 50 lbs.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to complete basic math activities (to weigh/measure material and report production/maintenance information).
  • Ability to follow instructions (including bloodborne pathogen procedures).
  • Ability to draw conclusions from a visual and or physical inspection.

Responsibilities

  • Disconnects and disassembles process equipment for cleaning.
  • Uses special cleaning tools, solvents, and chemicals to clean and sanitize equipment.
  • Oils equipment to prevent rust and reassembles equipment.
  • Washes moving process equipment with forced hot water or steam.
  • Boils out coils in cookers using special chemical solutions and performs color checks.
  • Washes and mops floors, cleans white line areas, and vacuums as required.
  • Washes windows, walls, ceilings, and doors.
  • Removes waste and scrap containers, cleans waste containers, and operates a bailer/compactor.
  • Cleans, maintains, and makes minor repairs to sanitation equipment, including checking oil and water levels and recharging batteries.
  • Uses powered scrubbing equipment to scrub floors throughout the plant and warehouses.
  • Obtains, mixes, and maintains cleaning solutions and cleans scrubbing equipment.
  • Reports needed scrubber maintenance to the supervisor.
  • Cleans floors, walls, windows, partitions, sinks, and doors using various cleaning methods.
  • Empties trash containers in restrooms and other areas.
  • Cleans restrooms, rest areas, and locker areas.
  • Cleans manufacturing areas as directed, including production accessories.
  • Picks up debris such as string, sticks, slip sheets, pallets, and cardboard by hand.
  • Cleans truck pits and other areas not covered by power equipment.
  • Follows all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Supports food safety and quality plans and reports any observed problems to supervision.
  • Obtains supplies and materials from stock and keeps the sanitation area neat and orderly.
  • Performs other work as assigned by the supervisor.
