About The Position

Garner Foods is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Sanitation Technician to support safe, sanitary, and food-safe production. This role is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, inspecting, and preparing production equipment, processing areas, tanks, pipelines, utensils, containers, floors, drains, and other assigned areas in accordance with company procedures and sanitation schedules. The Sanitation Technician plays an important role in supporting employee safety, food safety, product integrity, sanitation effectiveness, and production readiness.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow verbal, written, and computer-based procedures.
  • Ability to complete sanitation records, logs, and documentation accurately.
  • Ability to work in a wet, non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work around hot water, cleaning chemicals, sanitizers, production equipment, wet floors, drains, hoses, noise, and food manufacturing conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, push, pull, lift, and carry as required during the shift.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and assigned shifts as needed.
  • Ability to wear required PPE correctly.
  • Ability to complete required safety, food safety, sanitation, chemical safety, and job-specific training.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior sanitation experience.
  • Prior food or beverage manufacturing sanitation experience.
  • Experience with wet food line sanitation.
  • Experience cleaning and sanitizing tanks, fillers, valves, pumps, pipelines, floors, drains, or production equipment.
  • Working knowledge of GMP, SQF, HACCP, PPE, LOTO, SDS, sanitation, and food safety expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize assigned production equipment, processing areas, tanks, vats, pipelines, fillers, valves, pumps, utensils, containers, totes, floors, drains, and work areas.
  • Disassemble, clean, sanitize, inspect, and reassemble production equipment as required by sanitation procedures and training.
  • Operate sanitation systems, cleaning tools, hoses, foaming equipment, and other assigned sanitation equipment safely and effectively.
  • Complete daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic sanitation tasks according to company procedures and leadership direction.
  • Support pre-operational readiness by ensuring assigned equipment and areas are cleaned, sanitized, organized, and ready for production use.
  • Complete sanitation records, logs, cleaning records, and inspection forms accurately and timely.
  • Identify and report sanitation concerns, unsafe conditions, product residue, chemical concerns, equipment issues, or food safety concerns.
  • Follow company policies, GMP, SQF, HACCP, PPE, Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, sanitation, housekeeping, and safety expectations.
