About The Position

The Sanitation Supervisor reports to the quality assurance manager and is responsible for the cleanliness of the facility and overseeing the day-to-day activities of the sanitation crew. The supervisor is a member of the Quality Assurance team which is responsible for ensuring all sanitation conforms to appropriate regulations and company policies and procedures that ensure the safety and quality of our products produced. Inspections, documentation, and training are recurring parts of the job.

Requirements

  • Possess thorough knowledge and understanding of cleaning and sanitation procedures in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, safe chemical use and handling, lockout/tagout, SDS, confined space, OSHA requirements.
  • 2-3 years prior sanitation / supervisory experience.
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts (days, evenings, nights).
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Minimum age: 18
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and participate in the cleaning and sanitation functions of the plant and equipment to ensure proper sanitation methods and practices are utilized and are in compliance with regulatory, certification, and organizational standards, incorporating CIP, GMPs, SSOPs, SDS, HACCP, and SQF.
  • Inspect and verify the work performed.
  • Ensure compliance with GMPs, chemical use, sanitary procedures, and other company policies and procedures.
  • Participate as an essential member of the quality assurance team to inform management of concerns, and ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.
  • Establish, enhance, and execute cleaning and sanitation procedures; maintain, follow, and update the master cleaning schedule, sanitation programs, and work instructions.
  • Monitor and maintain CIP units for operation and appropriate stock levels for cleaning supplies.
  • Train, orient, supervise, coach, and evaluate current and new sanitation staff in cleaning SSOPs.
  • Manage cleaning chemical inventory and concentrations; ensure proper handling, storage, and use of chemicals.
  • Monitor and enforce employee safety practices, including lockout/tag out, safe use and handling of chemicals, safe lifting, and proper PPE use.
