About The Position

Join Tate’s Bake Shop on Long Island, New York, as a Sanitation Manager, leading the Sanitation, Pest Control, and related food safety agendas. You will oversee a team of salaried and hourly associates, developing strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving day-to-day operational execution. This role requires providing leadership and technical guidance in Sanitation, PEM, and Pest Control compliance, with a focus on teamwork, safety, best-in-class practices, and a consumer-first mindset.

Requirements

  • Food Safety and Program Compliance Leadership, including Sanitation and Pest Control expertise.
  • Proven experience leading hourly teams.
  • Expertise in Pest Control Program Management and directing PCO contractors.
  • Strong foundational knowledge & experience in managing food manufacturing Sanitation and Pest Control Programs in a post-FSMA environment.
  • Demonstrated HACCP ownership and plan execution.
  • Demonstrated leadership and execution of Environmental Monitoring programs.
  • Strong understanding and application of GMP Requirements in a food manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to influence, engage, and motivate site teams (operations, maintenance, sanitation) to execute quality initiatives.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners.
  • Engages key stakeholders in strategy alignment and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills.
  • Adaptable - must handle multiple situations at one time and be able to prioritize for maximum efficiency.

  • 2-year degree in Food Sanitation and/or Food Science, Technical or Vocational or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3 years+ working in a similar role required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) required.
  • Sanitation management and technical experience in food manufacturing required; dairy or similar sector preferred.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with known allergens such as: milk, eggs, nuts (tree nuts), wheat and soy is required.

Nice To Haves

  • HACCP, PCQI certifications preferred.
  • Pest Control program management experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in equipment and infrastructure cleaning, chemical application and management, PEM, sanitation procedures, regulatory compliance, and hygienic design.
  • Support the Food Safety, GMP, and Sanitation agenda for the manufacturing plant, warehouse, and retail shop by ensuring site compliance and managing programs.
  • Manage the Pathogen Environmental Monitoring Program, Water testing, and Clean Equipment Swab programs, including performance tracking, trend analysis, and CAPA implementation.
  • Manage the Integrated Pest Control Program, including reviewing, maintaining, and updating Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Support the QA Manager in updating the site HACCP Plan by ensuring accuracy of Hazard Analysis and process flow diagrams.
  • Lead Hygienic Design Review of existing equipment and infrastructure, and execute Hygienic Design Assessment for new projects.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action reporting for program or compliance deviations, and escalate issues to Food Safety as needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities for the Sanitation Program, including MSS updates, SSOP updates, and training.
  • Conduct Sanitation & Pest Control audits.
  • Improve the Master Sanitation Schedule, manage change control, and verify implementation.
  • Own CAPA completion for assigned areas.
  • Review, maintain, and update current Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures and develop new ones as required.
  • Train production and sanitation associates on proper cleaning practices.
  • Order and maintain inventory of chemical, sanitation, PEM, and Pest Control supplies, and manage related vendors.
  • Collaborate with EHS Manager, Operations, and BU Food Safety to ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Assist in third-party audits, facilitating plant readiness and inspection processes.
  • Manage QCMS, FSSC programs, and other duties assigned by the QA Manager.
