About The Position

The Sanitation Manager has the overall responsibility of the Sanitation Department. The Sanitation Manager will oversee the Sanitation Department and align with the company goals of safe quality food. The Sanitation Manager coordinates cleaning and sanitation activities in order to maintain processing equipment, facility infrastructure, and site grounds in a clean and sanitary condition while ensuring sanitation activities meet all regulatory, customer and company requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the sanitation department is appropriately staffed with trained and competent employees and continuously improve the sanitation department to align with company key performance indicators.
  • Oversee and supervise all cleaning and sanitation activities within the facility.
  • Comply with all federal, statutory, customer, and company quality, food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Oversee the day-to-day functions of the sanitation department.
  • Ensure compliance with the following food safety standards: FDA, State of Kentucky, SQF, and internal standards.
  • Attend monthly Quality Council and Safety meetings and quarterly FSQA meetings.
  • Comply with regulatory, statutory, customer and company GMP requirements.
  • Continuously improve site specific Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure all processing equipment, infrastructure and building and grounds are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition.
  • Verify sanitation activities by performing post sanitation inspections, ATP and allergen testing as required.
  • Enhance and manage the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Coordinate with the Sanitation Team to ensure execution of all scheduled task in the Master Sanitation Schedule by competent and trained individuals.
  • Assist in maintaining the site environmental program, including deep cleaning and preventive measures as needed.
  • Coordinate training activities for sanitation employees to ensure employees are competent in chemical usage and handling, allergen cleaning procedures, Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), the 7 steps of sanitation and site Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP’s).
  • Manage sanitation, janitorial and chemical inventories.
  • Assist in the oversight of third-party vendors for chemicals and pest control.
  • Ensure the safety of all sanitation employees during cleaning and sanitation activities by following all Lock-Out-Tag-Out energy isolation procedures.
  • Facilitate shift pass-down meetings with sanitation employees.
  • Creating the weekly employee sanitation schedule.
  • Sanitation employee timecard oversight and approval.
  • Retain all food safety and sanitation records per Klosterman Baking Company record retention requirements.
  • Development of internal sanitation training program.
  • Conduct monthly sanitation team training and meetings.
  • Complete weekly titrations to ensure proper chemical concentrations.
  • Conduct CIP process as scheduled.
  • Participate in weekly EHS Meetings and report on safety incidents.
  • Participate in FSQA and EHS audits and meetings as needed.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, FSQA, and Operations for sanitation plans during production down time.
