About The Position

The Sanitation Manager will be responsible for maintaining a clean work environment and sanitation work flow by following the Master Sanitation Cleaning schedule frequencies and maintaining several sanitation programs and policies. This role involves developing and implementing sanitation policies and procedures to ensure a clean and safe environment in accordance with industry standards and regulations. The manager will lead and oversee a team of sanitation staff, conduct regular inspections, manage sanitation supply inventory, and develop staff through communication, evaluation, coaching, and monitoring. The position also requires working directly with the Pest Control Provider, participating in weekly plant GMP audit inspections, ensuring compliance with regulations (OSHA, FDA, local health department), and participating in the development of processes to minimize product safety incident exposure. Support will be provided to other departments as needed, and the manager will participate in customer audits, certification audits, and regulatory visits. This role oversees a sanitation staff of 25+ hourly union employees and is responsible for developing working relationships with all departmental staff, other department heads, and appropriate Alpha Baking personnel. The primary shift is 1st, but flexibility to work different shifts is required. Additional duties include conducting business dealings professionally, working with computers and software, proposing cost reduction strategies, supporting new project ideas, and maintaining professional knowledge through workshops.

Requirements

  • More than 5 years of sanitation experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • More than 3 years experience as an Assistant Manager or Supervisor is preferred.
  • Personal Computer Skills - Proficient with MS Office
  • Understands Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Experience in scheduling, training, and directing cleaning crews
  • Understanding of the American Institute of Baking inspection procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • HACCP and FSMA (PCQI) certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain clean work environment and sanitation work flow by following the Master Sanitation Cleaning schedule frequencies along with maintaining several sanitation programs and policies.
  • Develop and implement sanitation policies and procedures to maintain a clean and safe environment in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Manage and oversee a team of sanitation staff, providing leadership and guidance to ensure efficient and effective sanitation operation.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the bakery to identify areas that require cleaning and implementation of corrective actions to address any issues.
  • Maintain sanitation supply inventory to ensure the necessary equipment and or needs of the department are met.
  • Develop sanitation staff through communication, evaluation, coaching, and monitoring.
  • Work directly with Pest Control Provider.
  • Conduct or take part in weekly plant GMP audit inspection.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including OSHA, FDA, and local health department requirements.
  • Participate in the development of processes to minimize product safety incident exposure.
  • Provide support to the other departments as needed.
  • Participate in all customer audits, certification audits, and all regulatory visits.
