About The Position

As the Sanitation Manager, they are responsible for leading all areas of sanitation compliance. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef Team, this role works closely with the Health Department to navigate health inspections and re-checks as needed. Acting as a health and safety champion focused on people and quality standards, the Manager ensures all food preparation facilities satisfy California Retail Food Code standards to deliver a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for guests and team members.

Requirements

  • 2 - 3+ years of experience in sanitation, kitchen operations, or environmental services—ideally within a high-volume hospitality, restaurant, catering, or venue environment.
  • Hold or obtain a valid California Food Handler Card, Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) certification, or ServSafe certification.
  • Stand for long periods of time and remain physically mobile throughout multi-level venue concourses and kitchens during event shifts.
  • Demonstrate physical stamina and agility required to move quickly across large facility footprints.
  • Lift and move materials, supplies, and cleaning equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • React with physical and mental alertness in emergency situations.
  • Work in extreme weather conditions through the workday.
  • Maintain flexible availability including evenings, weekends, venue event days, and holidays.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the implementation of the venue's sanitation program.
  • Reviews health department audits and internal sanitation reports to ensure operational progress and execute prompt corrective actions.
  • Works with local OSHA, sanitation, Everclean, and Health inspectors to support inspections or local initiatives.
  • Enforces adherence to company standards, the California Retail Food Code (CalCode), and local Environmental Health Department guidelines.
  • Coaches operational leaders to ensure a thorough understanding of all safety and sanitation standards.
  • Trains, coaches, and mentors team members on safe food handling, proper dishwashing procedures, chemical handling (HAZCOM/SDS), and allergen cross-contamination prevention.
  • Supports venue waste management programs by ensuring proper sorting of organic waste, recyclables, and landfill materials in alignment with local Bay Area composting and diversion regulations.
  • Provides knowledgeable assistance in the reporting, monitoring, and settling of team members, foodborne illness, liquor liability, and guest claims.
