To maintain City’s streets and right-of-ways throughout the city.
Requirements
High school graduation or GED required.
Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License
Some general maintenance experience.
A comparable amount of education and/or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Complete the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within six (6) months of completion of probationary period.
Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
Acceptable eyesight (with or without corrections) Visual acuity is required as a machine operator and/or mobile equipment operator.
Acceptable hearing (with or with hearing aid).
Physical ability for sitting, climbing, working form heights, standing, walking, pulling, digging, heavy lifting, using fingers, bending grasping, crawling and strenuous physical work.
Ability to physically lift 50 lbs. such as tree branches, appliances, bags of debris, etc.
Must be able to operate street maintenance hand tools and city-owned vehicles.
Knowledge of tools and various equipment used in the street maintenance field.
Ability to follow and understand both oral and written instruction.
Must be able to work well with both co-worker and the public.
Responsibilities
Performs routine maintenance work such as keeping all entrances into the city neat, clean, and free of litter, trash and debris, as well as all city streets and right-of-ways.
Maintenance of streets and right-of-ways including; mowing, edging, string trimming, brush clearing, hedge trimming and blowing.
Loads and unloads various materials from truck.
Receives verbal and written instructions.
Performs related duties as required and other such work as may be assigned.
Work requires the operating of city-owned pick-up trucks and other related equipment.
General equipment maintenance.
Driving of City Vehicles (a valid Florida Driver’s License is required)
