About The Position

The Overnight Sanitation Lead is responsible for overseeing and managing the sanitation team in a frozen dough industrial manufacturing facility. This role ensures that all sanitation activities are completed efficiently and according to food safety standards, while maintaining compliance with regulatory guidelines. The Lead will be the example; working during the overnight shift, coordinating the cleaning and sanitation of equipment, machinery, and the production environment to ensure the facility operates safely and meets production goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of sanitation experience in a food manufacturing environment, with at least 1-2 years in an elevated role.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, GMPs, and HACCP guidelines.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts and occasional weekends or holidays as needed.
  • Proficient in the use of sanitation chemicals and equipment in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a cold or wet environment typical of a frozen dough manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the workflow completion of the overnight sanitation team, including scheduling and training.
  • Ensure the team follows safety and sanitation protocols, emphasizing proper use of chemicals and equipment.
  • Communicate clearly with other departments, including production and quality assurance, to coordinate sanitation needs.
  • Oversee the cleaning and sanitizing of production equipment, floors, walls, and other surfaces in the facility, ensuring that all areas meet food safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Ensure the sanitation team follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and HACCP guidelines.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of cleaning processes and conduct regular inspections to identify and address areas needing improvement.
  • Implement proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals used for sanitation.
  • Maintain accurate records of sanitation activities, including cleaning logs, chemical usage, and inspection results.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local food safety regulations (FDA, USDA, etc.).
  • Participate in audits and inspections, assisting with the preparation and presentation of sanitation records.
  • Promote a culture of safety, ensuring team members use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols.
  • Provide training on sanitation best practices, including the safe use of cleaning chemicals and machinery.
  • Respond promptly to any sanitation-related safety concerns or incidents.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improving sanitation processes and efficiency.
