About The Position

This position will report to the Supervisor and is a Full-Time Regular role. The Sanitation Lead will oversee the manual process of sanitizing production plants with a focus on food contact surfaces. The role involves supervising employees to ensure completion of assigned areas, overseeing chemical application and removal, and maintaining routine records. The Lead will also perform all functions of a sanitation employee, set up equipment and crew, and apply cleaning chemicals to appropriate surfaces and equipment. The position may require rotation to different plant areas based on business needs. The Lead is responsible for maintaining daily log sheets, auditing team lead logs, and operating a forklift for chemical transportation and trash disposal. They will engage in critical or special situations, discern if additional resources are needed, and provide direct leadership and direction to ensure accurate communication and follow-up. The role ensures corrective and preventative actions and continuous improvement processes are utilized and verified. The Sanitation Lead will assist department supervisors with go/no-go decisions regarding chemical, cleaning, and design impacts on production, maintenance, quality, and sanitation. They will undertake special projects assigned by the Sr. Sanitation Manager, provide technical expertise for the environmental monitoring program, and communicate/escalate safety, food safety/quality, or vendor issues. People and skill development through training and coaching are also key aspects of this role, along with other assigned duties to support business needs.

Requirements

  • High School/GED or one to two years’ experience in related field or combination of both education and experience.
  • Verifiable history of safe vehicle operation and meet company standards for driving eligibility, including maintaining a clean driving record.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Great communication skills, ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Must be punctual, have excellent attendance record, and be able to cooperate with others.
  • Must participate in all training programs.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Two to three years of experience in related field.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a variety of routine records and audit records completed by team employees.
  • Perform all functions of a sanitation employee.
  • Set up equipment and crew.
  • Apply proper cleaning chemical to appropriate surfaces and equipment.
  • May be asked to rotate to a different area of the plant (same position and shift) based on business need.
  • Maintain daily log sheets documenting completed work.
  • Audit team lead logs and documents.
  • Operate forklift for chemical transportation and trash disposal.
  • Engage in any critical or special situations and promptly discern if additional resources or senior managers are needed.
  • Provide direct leadership and direction settings to all shifts to ensure that accurate communication and follow-up occurs.
  • Ensures corrective and preventative actions and continuous improvement processes are being utilized in manufacturing and that action plans are verified and effective.
  • Assist department supervisors with making go/no go decisions concerning chemical, cleaning and/or design impacts on production, maintenance, quality and sanitation issues.
  • Undertake and complete special projects assigned by the Sr. Sanitation Manager as necessary.
  • Provide technical expertise for environmental monitoring program development, monitoring and troubleshooting EMP.
  • Communicate and escalate any safety, food safety/quality or vendor issues and provide support as needed.
  • People/skill development through training and coaching.
  • Other assigned duties and/or projects to support business needs.
