Sanitation Lead
About The Position
Gotham Greens is seeking a passionate, driven, and hardworking Sanitation Lead to perform day-to-day sanitation tasks as directed by their immediate supervisor. This is a hands-on role for a team-oriented individual who is willing to roll up their sleeves and work in a rapidly growing, innovative company in the 21st-century food system. The position involves cleaning and sanitizing throughout the greenhouse and packhouse on second shift, generally from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; the schedule is subject to change as needed. The employee uses materials and tools provided by Gotham Greens and must follow established cleaning, sanitation, and safety procedures.
Requirements
- Lead by example with a can-do attitude.
- Have laser-focused attention to detail.
- Demonstrate strong multitasking abilities.
- Be willing to learn food safety rules and regulations.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Be able to stand for a full 8-hour shift.
- Be willing to work in tight quarters and hard-to-reach areas, including under growing lines.
- Be a problem solver who can identify areas for efficiency improvement.
- Have 1–3 years of sanitation or cleaning experience preferred.
Nice To Haves
- Prior cleaning experience in the natural and organic food industry.
- Experience leading a small team.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas throughout the greenhouse, including bathrooms, break rooms, hallways, stairwells, the packhouse, nursery, and areas under growing lines.
- Clean quickly and effectively using materials and tools provided by Gotham Greens.
- Learn and follow proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures.
- Follow safe work practices and wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
- Offer ideas to improve efficiency and cleanliness.
- Assist with unrelated or unassigned tasks as needed to support effective greenhouse and packhouse operations.
