The Sanitation Lead directs daily cleaning operations, manages sanitation crews, and ensures compliance with food safety laws to prevent contamination. This role is responsible for enforcing and ensuring compliance with established food safety, sanitation, and hygiene policies and procedures. The Lead will inspect manufacturing equipment to ensure compliance with established sanitation, hygiene, and food safety standards, and manage and oversee cleaning and sanitation operations in the facility to ensure proper execution of sanitation activities. Maintaining the master sanitation schedule, training sanitation workers on an ongoing basis, and documenting all training processes and procedures are key functions. Additionally, the Lead will monitor the mixing and use of chemicals to prevent misuse and hazards, coordinate and execute cleaning with sanitation and maintenance teams, and keep detailed records of all sanitation-related activities and issues. Comprehensive evaluations of sanitation processes and practices, identification of improvement opportunities, and recommendations to the Quality Supervisor are expected. The role also involves maintaining audit readiness to ensure sanitation practices meet established SQF and customer requirements for successful audit outcomes.
