About The Position

LECO is a family-owned company that has developed and produced laboratory instruments for over 90 years. The Sander performs fill/sand of castings and production sanding as directed by the Plating/Paint Supervisor or Group Leader. The role includes cross-training for other job-related duties within the department as needed and producing and maintaining quality products while meeting performance and production expectations.

This is a full-time position scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with overtime as needed from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The role is based in St. Joseph, Michigan.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to use miscellaneous hand tools, including an orbital sander, Dynafile, hand grinder, bead blast, and hand files.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Ability to operate a forklift truck and obtain a LECO forklift license.
• Right-To-Know training.

Responsibilities

• Pick up LECO parts from the Raw Parts holding area and move them to the workstation.
• Verify that the Router Sheet revision level matches the blueprint revision level accompanying the parts.
• Contact the Plating/Paint Supervisor if the Router Sheet revision level does not match the blueprint, and do not process parts when the revision levels do not match.
• Produce and maintain quality parts to blueprint specifications while maintaining an acceptable level of productivity.
• Write the quantity, initials, and date on the Router Sheet when parts are finished.
• Sand parts and inspect them during the sanding operation.
• Operate miscellaneous hand tools, sanding stations, and equipment safely.
• Wear protective form-fitting gloves while operating sanding equipment and position parts to prevent overreaching and bending.
• Report labor timely and correctly.
• Implement corrective actions.
• Handle materials using a forklift truck.
• Record daily parts run on Form R8.5.1.4, as referenced in the manual.
• Cross-train for other job-related duties within the department as needed.
