About The Position

Tru Vue Inc., a subsidiary of Apogee Enterprises, Inc., is seeking a Sandblaster for its 3rd shift operations. Apogee, founded in 1949 and headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, is a profitable company with annual revenues approaching $1.5 billion, specializing in distinctive metal and glass solutions for commercial buildings and framing/display applications. The Apogee Performance Surfaces segment, generating $200M in revenue, develops and manufactures high-performance coated materials for various markets, holding a global leadership position in specialized coatings. The Sandblaster, or Sandblast Operator, is responsible for abrasive blasting and surface preparation on metal and other materials to prepare them for subsequent processes like coating, welding, fabrication, or finishing. This role demands safe operation of blasting equipment, quality inspection, and adherence to production schedules and safety standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read and follow work instructions and safety procedures
• Ability to use measuring and inspection tools
• Strong safety awareness
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable attendance and punctuality

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in sandblasting, manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial painting preferred
• Forklift or overhead crane experience is a plus
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality

Responsibilities

• Operate sandblasting and abrasive blasting equipment safely and efficiently
• Prepare surfaces by removing rust, paint, mill scale, and other contaminants
• Inspect workpieces and verify surface preparation requirements are met
• Select appropriate blasting media, equipment settings, and protective gear
• Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance
• Follow work instructions, quality standards, and production schedules
• Comply with all environmental, health, and safety requirements
• Assist in the troubleshooting and repair of production equipment
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on production equipment
• Maintain a clean and organized work area using 6S principles
• Document work progress in CMMS and communicate work status to business partners
• Other duties as assigned
