About The Position

The Full-Time Sandblaster/Painter is responsible for preparing parts and equipment for painting and protective coating, including performing sandblasting and surface preparation to ensure quality finishes. This position reports to the Production Manager and is based at our Mitsue Industrial Site in Slave Lake, Alberta. Note, this is not a camp position!! Proudly Canadian, Tiger Calcium is one of North America's largest calcium chloride producers, drawing from the largest known natural reserve. We define the industry standard for quality—unmatched in either breadth or scope. We manufacture, supply, transport and apply premium calcium chloride products for anti-icing, deicing and dust control. But that's not all. We also formulate custom fluids for drilling, available for purchase or rental 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year.

Requirements

  • Journeyman ticket for Painting with at least one year of experience
  • Minimum one-year experience in an autobody or industrial sandblasting environment.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Experience sandblasting structural material, truck trailers and pipe.
  • Have some automotive experience in a paint booth.
  • Experience working inside tanks.
  • Valid Confined Space Entry and H2S Alive certification required.
  • Familiar with a variety of industrial coatings.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Operating knowledge of all related tools and equipment with the ability to operate in a safe and effective manner.
  • Possess a strong attention to detail with outstanding organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on a skid steer or wheel loader would be an asset.
  • Forklift and Aerial Work Platform certification would be considered an asset.
  • Mechanical ability would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • In addition to company policies, comply with all policies, procedures and regulations related to health, safety and the environment.
  • Perform daily hazard assessments and equipment checks.
  • Order and track required material and supplies to maintain an effective, functional body shop.
  • To minimize waste, review items to be repaired, prepare or review repair cost estimates, and plan the work to be performed.
  • Sand body areas to be painted. Prime and paint repaired surface.
  • Clean and maintain all body shop equipment to keep it in good reliable working condition.
  • Accurately completes all required paperwork and permits.
  • Sandblast parts and equipment to required specifications.
  • Communicate any deficiencies and safety concerns to the Production Manager.
