About The Position

Painters are responsible for mixing and applying paint to various surfaces using paint techniques and tools to complete paint projects. This role requires a developing knowledge of skills, functional knowledge, and abilities to perform tasks in the Paint Shop. The mechanic understands how to perform tasks and can complete them with minimal assistance, including knowledge of equipment, protective gear, and machinery. In some cases, the mechanic is expected to assist rather than complete tasks independently.

Requirements

Minimum Relevant Experience: 2 to 4 yrs.
Must be able to obtain a government access badge.
Must be able to read, write and comprehend simple instructions
Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form
Must be able to calculate and understand units of measure
Must be able to wear applicable PPE (Hard hat, safety goggles, gloves, steel toes shoes, ear protection, Tyvek suits, respirators, etc.)

Responsibilities

Possess brush and roll painting skills
Perform a layout on a job
Prepare and apply mastics whether in putty or liquid form
Caulk small jobs independently
Cut lines for painting
Measure the square footage for painting
Follow the directions outlined in the sketch
Execute the job with direction
Use the needle gun, deck crawler and power tool (pneumatic or electric) for surface prep
Remove existing coating systems
Sand an area to prep for painting
Know surface prep standards
Assist with quality critical activities (Strippers and Painting training)
Assist with PCMS Tile-Maintenance and Installation Cert for Paint
Knowledge of testing valves on a machine to ensure that it is operational
Working towards completing spray application training
Know how to operate the spray pump
Know the differences and how to operate Conventional Airless and Plural Component Airless spray pumps
