About The Position

RM Residential is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious sand slinger operator to join their team. The primary function of this role is to operate a sand slinging machine to apply sand-cement mixtures on construction surfaces. The successful candidate may also be required to operate a mixer truck to support concrete delivery operations, making versatility and a valid Class 3 (or higher) driver's licence essential. RM Residential is part of the RMC Group of Companies, a family-owned business established in 1994, which has grown to be one of Western Canada's largest independent concrete providers with over ten operating entities. Requirements

  • Valid class 1 or class 3 driver's license and clean drivers abstract.
  • 1+ year of prior experience operating a sand slinger, or similar type of equipment.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment or industrial machinery.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a frequent basis.
  • Prior experience working in the construction, concrete, or a related industry.
  • Knowledge of Edmonton and area roads and neighbourhoods.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a crew.
  • Physical fitness to perform manual labour.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Reliability and dependability.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take on varying tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience driving a ready-mix or mixer truck is an asset.
  • Familiarity with concrete products and construction site operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and shut down sand slinging equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Mix and apply sand-cement or aggregate materials to specified depths and consistency.
  • Monitor equipment performance and adjust settings to meet job specifications.
  • Perform daily pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance on slinging equipment.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and crew to ensure accurate application on site.
  • Clean and store equipment properly at end of shift.
  • Operate a ready-mix concrete truck safely in compliance with all provincial and company regulations.
  • Load, transport, and discharge concrete accurately at job sites throughout the Edmonton area.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with Alberta Transportation requirements.
  • Maintain accurate delivery documentation and interact professionally with customers and contractors.
  • Manage drum speed and water additions per job specifications.
  • Clean drum and chutes after each load to maintain equipment integrity.
  • Adhere to all occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations and company safety policies.
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients while on site.
  • Communicate with dispatch, mechanics, batchers, and supervisors about site issues, mechanical concerns, and other issues as they arise.
  • Ensure trucks are kept clean at all times, both inside the cab and the exterior of the truck.
  • Identify and report equipment defects, hazards, or incidents promptly.
  • Assist with general yard and site duties as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
