About The Position

Join our dedicated team in Unity Lab Services as a Lab Support Specialist, where we provide seamless support tailored to our customers' unique needs. We’re seeking an organized individual to handle lab support operations, including glasswash, garment management, and gas/dry ice management. You'll be the primary point of contact for lab personnel, ensuring compliance and efficiency in all support activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ year experience with material handling, manufacturing or related field required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a safety-first approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance.
  • Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards.
  • Must successfully complete and satisfy Thermo Fisher’s pre-employment screening (including background check and drug test) and any customer-mandated screening, credentialing, or badging requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Management and tracking of the daily samples delivered to the site.
  • Process outbound shipments using validated shipping containers, and continuous temperature monitoring devices. Shipments may include IATA DOT hazardous materials.
  • Serve as sample clerks dedicated to the QC Labs.
  • Receiving samples, track laboratory reference standard and biological indicator needs and ordering.
  • Inspecting and checking-in samples through customer LIMS system and storing in qualified locations, transferring samples and supporting disposal.
  • Audit sample inventory routinely, support quarterly cleaning of fridges/freezers, and chemical inventory disposal, and other inspection readiness activities as needed.
  • Ensure ALCOA+ documentation at all times, complete all site required training, and follow safety, hazard, and PPE requirements.
  • Organize and maintain sample management area including Aliquoting suite using lean practices, establish standard work for product families and workstreams.
  • Manage routinely used consumables, order materials as needed.
  • Perform specific tasks associated with labware operations, including precision cleaning, inventory management, quality control, and sterilization through autoclaving.
  • Collect used labware/materials from various labs and ensure dedicated points of use are fully restocked.
  • Handle garment, glassware and dry ice management ensuring a consistent supply and safe storage of these materials. Support equipment safety checks.
  • Partner with clients to understand their labware and material needs, providing timely support and ensuring stock availability.
  • Follow well-defined procedures as outlined by Best Practices, SOPs & Work Instructions.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory and support activities.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by management.
