About The Position
Eurofins Forensic Services’ Lextox laboratory is seeking a professionally qualified Phlebotomist to join its Sample Collections team in Scunthorpe, Grimsby, and surrounding areas on an ad hoc, casual, zero-hours basis. The role involves attending pre-booked appointments, generally within a two-hour radius of the employee’s home address, and providing hair, nail, blood, and DNA sample collection services. Most appointments are planned during normal business hours. The role will ultimately be home-based after initial training at the Lextox office. Payment is £48.67 per collection, with appropriate travel expenses reimbursed, including fuel, parking fees, and sample postage. The position involves taking blood samples and requires Hepatitis B vaccination. Regular enhanced DBS checks apply.
Requirements
- Be a professionally qualified Phlebotomist.
- Have at least two years of post-qualification phlebotomy experience.
- Have recent experience in various venepuncture techniques, predominantly vacutainer and butterfly.
- Be able to collect samples in non-clinical settings.
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
- Have access to a vehicle and business insurance.
- Be willing to undergo regular enhanced DBS checks.
- Hepatitis B vaccination is required for the blood-sampling duties.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working within the NHS or Blood Service.
- Experience collecting hair and DNA samples; in-house training is provided for this aspect of the role.
Responsibilities
- Attend pre-booked appointments at various locations, generally within a two-hour radius of home.
- Provide professional hair, nail, blood, and DNA sample collection services; other collection types may be added in line with the Lextox product portfolio.
- Maintain and develop excellent relationships with clients and donors as the public face of Lextox.
- Implement the company Quality Management System requirements and help maintain ISO 17025 accreditation.
- Ensure all collections are carried out safely in accordance with required operating procedures.
- Provide statements to support legal proceedings at the point of sample collection.
- Complete all company-mandated training.
