About The Position

Sells/leases new and used vehicles at dealership gross profit, volume, and customer satisfaction standards. Essential duties include writing complete sales orders, processing paperwork according to dealership policies, utilizing sales control and follow-up systems, and participating in manufacturer and dealership training programs. The role requires staying updated on new products and services, maintaining customer follow-up and prospect development systems, and conducting business ethically and professionally. The salesperson satisfies customer transportation needs by approaching, greeting, and assisting customers, understanding their needs, explaining product features and benefits, offering test drives, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Compliance with federal, state, and local laws governing automobile sales is mandatory, along with protecting customer information. The role involves establishing income goals, devising strategies to meet them, and keeping abreast of product updates. The salesperson must understand vehicle equity and value, and introduce customers to the service department. They prepare sold vehicles for delivery, explain operating features, warranty, and paperwork, and follow up on post-delivery items. Regular analysis of actions is required to improve time utilization and planning. The role also includes attending sales meetings, maintaining a professional appearance, and assisting with inventory tasks.

  • Sells and delivers a minimum number of vehicles per month.

  • Knows, understands, and complies with the federal, state, and local laws which govern retail automobile sales.
  • Protects prospect and customer information and privacy.
  • Establishes personal income goals that are consistent with dealership standards of productivity, and devises a strategy to meet those goals.
  • Keeps abreast of new products, features, accessories, etc., and their benefits to customers.
  • Knows and understands equity and values, and is able to explain depreciation to the customer.
  • Ensures that the Sales Manager has an opportunity to meet each customer.
  • Turns 100 percent of closed deals to Finance Manager, along with properly completed paperwork (insurance information, trade title, etc.).
  • Prepares sold vehicles for customer delivery prior to customer arrival.
  • Delivers vehicles to customers, ensuring that the customer understands the vehicle's operating features, warranty, and paperwork.
  • Introduces customers to service department personnel to emphasize to them the quality and efficiency of service repairs and maintenance available in the dealership's service department.
  • Follows up on all post-delivery items and special requests to be sure that all customer expectations are met.
  • Reviews and analyzes actions at the end of each day, week, month, and year to determine how to better utilize time and plans more effectively.

  • Assists in inventory maintenance tasks when needed (driving vehicles to prevent brake dust, moving vehicles from storage lots to the main lot, etc.).
