The Sales Team Lead will lead a team that is responsible for maintaining a profitable and healthy business through joint business planning with key customers. The individual is responsible for delivering growth through maximizing core while expanding new distribution for the Wella portfolio. This person will become an expert on Wella brand strategies and product portfolios to work in conjunction with their team and internal business partners to create and execute a 4P strategy at the customer. The individual will have full ownership of all levels of the customer P&L. The role will be a key direct report to the US Retail Head of Sales and be instrumental in driving overall growth and performance for the department. This person should be adaptable to the changing needs of the business and communicate progress and risk effectively to management on a consistent basis. The right candidate will be highly organized and proactive in their approach, with a positive, team-player attitude. The position calls for growth and results-driven strategist and executor who is tapped in culturally within the industry. This person must be experienced in managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years prior experience in consumer package goods sales / trade marketing environment
  • Experience working with top national retail accounts
  • Bachelor’s degree; MBA preferred
  • Proactive approach – take initiative to do what’s needed for the business
  • Strong Business analysis skills, detail oriented
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams with a customer-focused mindset
  • Ability to lead & influence the cross-functional team

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of beauty, hair, nail, and personal care category is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Set customer team strategy for the immediate and long-term to drive healthy joint business plans and overall growth
  • Train & lead account managers to sell, implement, and evaluate business plans to meet or exceed financial objectives.
  • Coach account managers to manage and improve distribution, pricing, shelving, and merchandising.
  • Develop productive working relationships with key customer contacts and sell win/win business plans
  • Strategic planning of the overall business, including the development of a sales plan and quota attainment.
  • Plan and execute Quarterly Business Review (QBR) to the internal Wella leadership team, reviewing performance, and outlining strategy based on analytical data.
  • Establish a productive relationship with all cross-functional departments, to maximize support in all business areas (marketing, supply, data systems, and finance).
  • Lead and coach account managers to develop promotional strategy and presentations, special pre-packs, and events to maximize sales opportunities.
