Sales Systems Engineer, Enterprise Operations

PerplexitySan Francisco, CA
$200,000 - $230,000

About The Position

Perplexity is seeking a Sales Systems Engineer to manage the technical aspects of their enterprise sales operations. This role involves owning CPQ, account and lead scoring, data orchestration, and the integrations connecting key GTM tools like Salesforce and Snowflake. The engineer will be responsible for the technical execution of pricing, quoting, scoring, routing, and tracking of deals. This is a hands-on builder role requiring expertise in SQL, Salesforce, CPQ configuration, Workato, and Python scripting to ensure a scalable sales system that supports significant ARR growth.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in Sales Systems, RevOps Engineering, Salesforce engineering, or Enterprise Systems at a high-growth SaaS company
  • Deep Salesforce expertise: flows, formula fields, validation rules, custom objects, sharing model, Apex if needed
  • Hands-on CPQ experience (Salesforce CPQ, Stripe Billing, Maxio, or similar) including pricing, approvals, and quote generation
  • Strong SQL: Ability to write production-grade Snowflake queries and build dbt-style transformation logic
  • Production experience with reverse ETL (Polytomic, Hightouch, Census) and iPaaS (Workato, Tray, Zapier at scale)
  • Comfort with REST APIs, webhooks, and scripting in Python or JavaScript
  • A bias for building: Experience shipping custom solutions when vendor options were insufficient
  • Operator mindset: Ability to read tickets, ship fixes, and understand seller requests without a PM intermediary

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with PLG-to-enterprise motion and scoring users into accounts
  • Experience with Apollo, Unify, Loops, Gatsby, Momentum, Floqer, or similar GTM tools
  • NetSuite or Metronome billing exposure
  • Comp plan tooling (Everstage, CaptivateIQ, QuotaPath)
  • Background in entity resolution, dedup, or domain enrichment

Responsibilities

  • CPQ: Quote-to-cash configuration, product catalog, pricing rules, approval workflows, discount governance, contract generation, and partnering with Finance and Legal.
  • Scoring: Account scoring, lead scoring, PLG activation scoring, and intent signal aggregation, including building and maintaining scoring models in Snowflake and pushing scores to Salesforce via reverse ETL.
  • Data orchestration: Managing pipelines for data movement across Snowflake, Salesforce, NetSuite, Apollo, Unify, and other tools using Polytomic, Hightouch, and Workato, including owning SLAs, monitoring, and breakage response.
  • Salesforce engineering: Developing Flows, validation rules, formula fields, custom objects, Apex, Lightning page configuration, permission sets, and sandbox management.
  • Integrations: Performing API-level integration work across GTM tools and building custom connectors when necessary.
  • Routing and ownership: Implementing account routing logic, opportunity assignment rules, territory management, and ROE enforcement.
  • Reporting infrastructure: Building Snowflake models to support pipeline, forecast, comp, and executive reporting, and collaborating with Analytics on the visualization layer.
