About The Position

The Sales Support Team Lead will coach, train, and manage a team of Mortgage support staff, which could include Mortgage Loan Originator Assistants and Loan Support Specialists as direct reports. This role is responsible for providing sales and marketing support to assigned Mortgage Loan Originator(s) (MLOs) by performing lending support functions within Truist policies and procedures. The position involves managing daily activities and workflow, monitoring pipelines, ensuring sales file submission quality, and assisting with client, attorney, or appraiser document follow-up. The Team Lead will also maintain in-depth knowledge of Mortgage Strategies, Policies and Procedures, and secondary market investor guidelines, and will be responsible for the management and execution of initiatives supporting the Division. Additionally, the role may require fulfilling Loan Support Specialist duties as an individual contributor or coach.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and related experience
3+ years mortgage industry experience with increasing responsibilities
Typically manages a team of 4+ direct reports
Handles complex job duties/responsibilities and special projects independently
May be responsible for training entry-level employees
Demonstrated proficiency in relevant computer applications
Must be SAFE Mortgage Licensing Act compliant within 30 days of employment, including new or transfer of registration and acceptable NMLS background check

Responsibilities

Assist with hiring, training, coaching, and meeting other Human Resources requirements for direct reports, including setting goals, evaluating performance, and approving time.
Manage daily activities and workflow of Mortgage LOA and Loan Support Specialists to ensure effective and efficient coverage of loan file setup needs.
Monitor and evaluate pipelines from application to ensure compliance and timely action by MLOs, meeting internal service level agreements (SLAs).
Ensure sales file submission quality and timeliness standards are met.
Assist Mortgage Loan Fulfillment with client, attorney, or appraiser document follow-up as determined through quality control or post-closing review.
Support direct reports by maintaining a complete and thorough knowledge of Mortgage Strategies, Policies and Procedures, and secondary market investor's guidelines.
Manage and execute initiatives, strategies, and directives that support the Division.
Fulfill Loan Support Specialist duties and act as an individual contributor/or coach based on span of control and need.
