Requirements

  • Experience selling tools, fasteners, and safety to medium/large contractors.
  • Ability to understand customer needs to present and deliver solutions (products and services).
  • Understanding of the balance between products/brands in the market with inventory/operational requirements.
  • Ability to help drive promotions and marketing communication to 'pull' demand from customers.
  • Ability to manage merchandising of TFS products in branches.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate and present effectively with customers, vendors, division leaders, purchasing, marketing, outside/inside sales, customer service reps, and account reps in a professional manner.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Good analytical and computer skills, including mastery of MS Office software.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert on product and application knowledge for Tools, Fasteners, and Safety (TFS) products for Cooper Electric associates and customers.
  • Lead TFS outside sales efforts to convert existing customers to buy TFS from Cooper, and process quotes for larger orders.
  • Engage in sales and account planning by branch, personally and with vendors, by coordinating with branch management and outside sales representatives to convert existing customers, including joint sales calls.
  • Develop and execute product and pricing strategy, including inventory management strategy.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for TFS vendors to develop product strategy (along with purchasing) for stocked TFS products.
  • Drive branch-level engagement between vendors and branch leadership/sales teams to convert customers to TFS products and increase over-the-counter sales through effective merchandising.
  • Plan and execute training for internal and external customers, focusing on safety and new products.
  • Support marketing with suggestions for product and promotion types for quarterly and/or vendor-specific promotions.
  • Engage with and share best practices with TFS specialists across the Sonepar network.
