About The Position

Harkins Theatres, with 92 years of history and a significant presence as the largest independently owned theatre company, is seeking a Sales Specialist. This role is crucial for managing incoming lead volume and email inquiries, working closely with the Director of Sales (DOS) or Sr. Sales Specialist to oversee day-to-day reactive sales activities. The primary focus is on cultivating long-term, value-based customer relationships to achieve sales objectives and foster repeat business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years’ experience in sales, or a related sales support function.
  • Excellent phone skills, communication, presentation, guest service, and networking skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Self-starter, fast learner with a can-do spirit.
  • Professional demeanor and impeccable integrity.
  • High sense of urgency and innate sales talent.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Experience dealing directly with small to mid-sized, local business owners and decision makers.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to inbound and repeat customer sales inquiries from website lead generation and email opportunities, including potential group clients and customers seeking theatre event space, private screenings, meetings, field trips, IMAX programs, birthday parties, food and beverage services, and unique spaces.
  • Plans and contracts with groups to achieve annual sales objectives.
  • Accurately maintains Tripleseat records, including events and bookings, ensuring all notes and details are up-to-date.
  • Closes events in a timely manner (TPS) and adheres to department standards.
  • Identifies the appropriate theatre space and pricing options for guest requests.
  • Develops relationships within the community and with personal group contacts to strengthen and expand the customer base for increased sales opportunities.
  • Attends local networking events as applicable.
  • Identifies new business opportunities to achieve personal and team revenue goals, including developing creative strategies to drive sales daily.
  • Understands the overall market, including competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply, and demand, and effectively presents Harkins’ value proposition.
  • Executes and supports the operational aspects of booked business, such as generating proposals, writing contracts, and managing customer correspondence. Partners with operations and all appropriate departments and theatres to ensure seamless communication of event details.
  • May conduct direct sales solicitation via telephone and written or email communications.
  • Maintains regular attendance and physical presence at the work site.
