The Technical Sales Specialist supports regional growth by working with customers and internal teams throughout the sales process, from inquiry through order handoff. This position helps prepare accurate proposals and bids, supports commercial discussions, and learns how to align customer needs with business requirements and risk guidelines. With developing technical and commercial knowledge, the Technical Sales Specialist helps deliver competitive solutions, support order growth, and build strong customer relationships across the region.

Requirements

• Have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 2 years of technical sales experience in an industrial or technical environment).
• Have some sales experience, customer-facing commercial experience, or similar product knowledge preferred, especially in a technical, industrial, energy, or service-related environment.
• Have an interest in building technical acumen, with exposure to industrial equipment, rotating equipment, or power transmission solutions considered a strong advantage.
• Have the ability to ask good questions, learn technical concepts, understand customer needs, and support solution development with guidance from the broader team.

Responsibilities

• Support regional growth plans by helping expand customer engagement, strengthen relationships, and deliver quality orders.
• Support assigned technical sales opportunities from initial inquiry through qualification, technical review, proposal development, and order handoff.
• Review customer requirements with guidance from experienced team members and help translate those needs into clear, technically sound solutions.
• Assist in developing customer proposals that communicate value, technical fit, and an understanding of customer priorities.
• Partner with engineering, commercial operations, and leadership to support deal review, risk awareness, and opportunity approval steps.
• Assist with commercial discussions on terms, pricing, and scope while learning how to balance customer needs with business objectives.
• Help customers work through technical questions by coordinating input from subject matter experts and experienced team members.
• Building customer trust by providing responsive support, practical follow-through, and clear communication.
• Own day-to-day customer relationships by staying responsive, following through on commitments, and keeping communication clear between the customer and internal teams.
• Cultivating sales leads by identifying target accounts, following up on customer inquiries, and helping move qualified opportunities into the sales pipeline.
• Supporting territory development by building account knowledge, tracking customer activity, and contributing to outreach plans that create new business opportunities.
• Collaborating effectively with technical sales support, ensuring accurate, timely proposals and seamless execution on customer requirements.
• Working hand in hand with local service locations to understand customer needs, coordinate support, and help deliver responsive solutions.
• Supporting opportunity development in a competitive territory while building sales discipline, business judgment, and technical confidence.
• Maintaining accurate opportunity updates, supporting pipeline visibility, forecast accuracy, and customer activity tracking.
