Coursedog
•$120,000 - $140,000•Remote

About The Position

As a Solutions Engineer at Coursedog, you will lead demos, scoping, and customer experience calls to align customers, Sales, and Customer Success before a deal is booked. You will work with Account Executives, Account Managers, campus IT, and institutional leaders to set expectations, keep scope grounded, and maintain continuity through the customer lifecycle. The role focuses on addressing churn risk and margin pressure before signature through technical credibility, accurate scoping and statements of work, clean handoffs, and ownership of integration and security conversations. This is a proactive, lifecycle-minded role that balances deal momentum with scope discipline. You will support new-logo and expansion opportunities, validate customer use cases, assess implementation risk, prepare estimates and SOWs, and ensure Customer Success receives documented context and risks. You will also maintain demo environments, improve repeatable processes using AI tools, enable go-to-market teams, and provide structured market feedback to Product, Customer Success, Engineering, and Security. The position offers a base salary of $110,000–$120,000, based on experience and qualifications, plus performance-based variable compensation. Total on-target earnings are $120,000–$140,000 when performance objectives are achieved. Coursedog is remote-first and describes itself as a fast-growing company focused on improving higher education operations and student success.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in Solutions/Sales Engineering, Solutions Consulting, or Solutions Architecture; customer-facing experience in higher education operations, Product, Customer Success, or Integration Engineering is also considered.
  • Hands-on product expertise, including the ability to configure and customize an environment independently.
  • Strong SaaS background and comfort with integrations and enterprise security conversations.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver sales-oriented demonstrations, read a room, and influence executive decision-makers.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to translate technical details into business value.
  • Team-oriented approach, including documenting knowledge, asking for help early, sharing context, and supporting colleagues.
  • Ability to identify broader patterns and turn them into processes, enablement materials, or product feedback.
  • Scoping judgment: ability to assess the delivery effort behind a requirement and reflect it accurately in an SOW.
  • Working fluency with AI tools such as Claude for drafting and quality-checking long-form responses, summarizing call transcripts, structuring documentation, and creating repeatable prompts or workflows; ability to verify AI output and identify errors.
  • Growth mindset and willingness to own and improve processes.
  • Ability to travel for client meetings, conferences, and go-to-market events.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver customer-specific product demonstrations and proofs of concept centered on validated customer pain points and workflows.
  • Support Account Executives and Account Managers on new-logo and expansion opportunities.
  • Validate use cases before demonstrations and throughout scoping and the customer experience call, including workflows, volumes, and edge cases expected at go-live.
  • Lead integration and security discussions with prospects, campus IT, and security reviewers.
  • Review requirements early, flag outliers, secure cross-functional sign-off, and score opportunities using the Implementation Risk model.
  • Draft and quality-check RFP/RFI and security questionnaire responses using Claude and the knowledge base; verify accuracy and alignment with demo positioning.
  • Own and maintain the RFP Response Library.
  • Support late-stage contract and MSA negotiation; serve as subject matter expert on product, security, and integrations, and build ROI analyses for strategic accounts.
  • Travel for in-person presentations and key account support.
  • Own the required customer experience call as the final alignment checkpoint before revenue is booked.
  • Prepare implementation hour estimates and ISF based on actual complexity, the scoping model, deal context, and call transcripts.
  • Generate dynamic statements of work from Salesforce data, define in-scope and out-of-scope boundaries, and identify legitimate ISF expansion opportunities.
  • Surface known implementation issues before signature and proactively address non-standard items with clients.
  • Coordinate SOW redlines through public cross-functional Slack channels and share the Implementation Readiness Guide with customers.
  • Document handoffs for every closed-won deal, covering customizations, workarounds, edge cases, and identified risks.
  • Review and correct Claude-generated SE summaries based on Gong/Glyphic calls before they are shared with Customer Success; maintain cross-functional visibility on complex deals through go-live.
  • Maintain demo environments in line with product roadmap and marketing priorities, with consistent data and reporting.
  • Use Devin and AI tools to create custom demo builds, and document customizations for transfer and downstream visibility.
  • Feed relevant demo and customization output into targeted early-stage outreach.
  • Maintain rapid-response support channels for go-to-market teams and facilitate bi-weekly enablement on product updates, competitive intelligence, and demo practices.
  • Curate release-note digests, enablement materials, and competitor research for go-to-market leadership.
  • Serve as the go-to-market liaison to Product and Customer Success, sharing structured market feedback for feature requests, roadmap prioritization, and gap analysis.
  • Support Marketing and SDR teams with thought leadership, including webinars, white papers, blogs, and conference support.
  • Partner with Engineering and Security on integrations, accessibility, and compliance certifications such as HECVAT and TX-RAMP.
  • Contribute to feedback loops across go-to-market, Customer Success, Product, and Engineering, and document or automate solutions to make work repeatable.
  • Log every SE request against the SE Activity Table template, keep customer interactions recorded and visible, and follow transparent SOW tracking and standardized reporting practices.
  • Maintain clear role boundaries: Sales owns the deal, agenda, timeline, and close; the SE owns technical credibility, solution fit, and risk surfacing, and passes pricing or timeline negotiations back to the sales representative.
