About The Position

The route sales driver shall be responsible for, but not limited to, driving a truck over an established route to deliver and sell products or render services of the dairy industry to customers' places of business. Drivers must follow all Department of Transportation regulations. The role involves collecting money from customers, making change, and recording transactions. The driver will write customer orders and instructions, record sales or delivery information, solicit new business from prospective customers, prepare order forms and sales contracts, inform regular customers of new products or services, and resolve service complaints. The successful candidate must maintain the cleanliness of the truck's interior, perform routine maintenance, and operate in a safe, courteous, and efficient manner. The role requires climbing, crawling, and walking in various positions to load and unload product, place stock on shelves, set up merchandise displays, issue sales promotion materials, and collect empty containers or unsold merchandise.

Requirements

  • Able to operate a Tractor-Trailer.
  • Be able to use and operate a hand-held ordering device.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Basica navigation skills.
  • Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Coachable and willing to learn.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Basic Math skills.
  • Stack and unstack items weighing 50 pounds from a height of approximately seven feet to the ground and back continually.
  • Drag stacks of milk weighing approximately 240 pounds, throughout the shift.
  • Load and unload trucks and carry merchandise.
  • Work in very hot (100°+) and very cool (less than 32°) environments throughout the year.
  • Work outside most of the time, regardless of the conditions.
  • Must have a Class B Commercial Driver’s License
  • Minimum Age: 21, as per Federal D.O.T. regulations

Responsibilities

  • Keep the inside of the truck clean.
  • Perform routine maintenance on truck.
  • Work and drive in a safe, courteous and efficient manner.
  • Load and unload product at destination.
  • Place stock on shelves or racks.
  • Set up merchandise and sales promotion display.
  • Issue sales promotion materials to customers.
  • Collect or pick up empty containers or rejected or unsold merchandise.
