About The Position

The route sales driver shall be responsible for driving a truck over an established route to deliver and sell products or render services of the dairy industry to customers' places of business. This role requires adherence to all Department of Transportation regulations, collecting money, making change, recording transactions, writing customer orders, and soliciting new business. The driver will also be responsible for loading and unloading product, stocking shelves, setting up displays, issuing promotional materials, and collecting unsold merchandise. Significant physical demands include stacking and unstacking items weighing up to 50 pounds, dragging heavy loads, and working in extreme temperatures both indoors and outdoors. The successful candidate must maintain the truck's cleanliness, perform routine maintenance, and operate the vehicle safely and courteously.

Requirements

  • Must have a Class A commercial driver's license.
  • Minimum Age: 21, as per Federal D.O.T. regulations
  • Must be able to pass a D.O.T. Physical and Drug Screen.

Responsibilities

  • Drives truck over established route to deliver and sell products or render services of the dairy industry to customer's place of business.
  • Follows all Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Collects money from customers, makes change, and records transactions on customer receipt.
  • Writes customer order and instructions.
  • Records sales or deliveries information on daily sales or delivery record.
  • Calls on prospective customers to solicit new business.
  • Prepares order forms and sales contracts.
  • Informs regular customers of new products or services.
  • Listens to and resolves service complaints.
  • Loads and unloads product at destination.
  • Places stock on shelves or racks.
  • Sets up merchandise and sales promotion displays.
  • Issues sales promotion materials to customers.
  • Collects or picks up empty containers or rejected or unsold merchandise.
  • Stacks and unstacks items weighing 50 pounds from a height of approximately seven feet to the ground and back continually.
  • Drags stacks of milk weighing approximately 240 pounds, throughout the shift.
  • Loads and unloads truck and carries merchandise.
  • Works in very hot (100°+) and very cool (less than 32°) environments throughout the year.
  • Works outside most of the time, regardless of the conditions.
  • Keeps the inside of the truck clean.
  • Performs routine maintenance on truck.
  • Works and drives in a safe, courteous and efficient manner.
