About The Position

The Waste Pro Sales Representative is responsible for the short and long-term growth of WP revenues through targeted prospecting, business development, communication, relationship building, and consultative selling within a defined territory. This role involves acquiring new contracts and extending existing ones for waste collection, processing, transportation, and disposal by understanding customer needs and influencing factors. The Sales Representative will also support prospecting efforts for potential clients, including municipal opportunities.

Requirements

  • AS/BA/BS degree in business, marketing, or equivalent experience. Related work experience can be substituted for educational requirements.
  • 1-2 years of sales/marketing/business development experience within the Waste Services Industry with heavy emphasis on the Commercial Sales Sector.
  • 1+ years of progressive sales experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply consultative and solutions-based selling skills.
  • Applied skills in negotiation, bid responses, contract management, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Experience with sales generation, customer interaction, presentation, client interaction, negotiation, account management, forecasting, pricing, and sales closure.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Above average organization, interpersonal, listening, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to function with the utmost honesty and integrity.
  • Basic understanding of applied use of sales automation technology.
  • Proficiency in using software packages, including MS Outlook, Word, PPT, and Excel.
  • Experienced in developing strategies to increase sales volumes, manage costs, and source potential opportunities through different channels.
  • Knowledge of the Waste Industry, competitors, and relevant external forces influencing client buying decisions.
  • Well versed in problem-solving, market research, financial/profitability analysis, pricing, and client relationship management.
  • Organized and intellectually able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.
  • Must be prepared for extensive travel within a defined sales area.
  • High degree of autonomy, yet team-oriented with the ability to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment.
  • Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, driving, etc.) most of the work day.
  • Properly licensed with the ability to drive a motor vehicle extensively within a defined sales area/territory.

Responsibilities

  • Develop maximum potential sales volume and profitability within the defined territory.
  • Participate in strategic market and sales planning with Regional and Corporate Sales Managers.
  • Meet or exceed sales call activity goals for new sales.
  • Match Waste Pro services and required sales support to meet customer needs.
  • Develop a strong customer base by calling on prospective customers via phone or in-person visits.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through direct communication and feedback solicitation.
  • Drive acquisition, retention, and renewal of contracts by developing and maintaining relationships with customers and decision-makers.
  • Prepare winning proposals by understanding the competition and utilizing industry/company knowledge.
  • Develop bid and RFP submittal packages, ensuring proposals meet all specification requirements, pricing, and quality standards.
  • Interface with Waste Pro executives, managers, associates, and customers to target opportunities and pursue leads.
  • Close contracts through negotiation, competitive pricing, and adherence to sales strategy, in partnership with the Sales Manager.
  • Initiate billing and contract audits to ensure optimal pricing and proper invoicing, in partnership with finance and regional management.
  • Resolve customer complaints and issues in compliance with regulations.
  • Participate in community events to promote Waste Pro.
  • Keep management informed of individual and sales activities impacting the Division, Region, and Company.
  • Use technology to monitor, track, and report sales activity, and accurately forecast revenue sales opportunities.
  • Partner with Corporate Sales, Marketing, and Regional Specialists on press coverage, collateral literature, advertising, and sponsorship recommendations.
  • Research and stay current on competitor services and pricing.
  • Use a standard format or sales automation tool to maintain the status of sales activities.
  • Attend and participate in corporation-sponsored training courses.
  • Stay up-to-date on current technology relevant to the job.
  • Perform any additional job duties assigned by the Supervisor.
