About The Position

Appian is seeking a highly motivated Sales Operations Analyst to drive efficiency and provide critical insights in a fast-paced environment. This role requires high cross-functional collaboration & communication, strong analytical skills, and a relentless focus on optimizing our sales processes and performance. This role is based at our HQ in McLean, VA and requires employees to be in the office 5 days a week to foster a culture of in-person collaboration, shared ideas, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, or another STEM-related field at an accredited North American college or university.
  • Strong foundation in analytical thinking, financial modeling, quantitative coursework, or related academic experience.
  • Proficient in Google Sheets / Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and structured spreadsheet design.
  • Strong process development and technical writing experience, with the ability to document and improve workflows.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and methodical in approach, with strong accuracy when working with numbers and data.
  • Willingness to support a variety of projects in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with a clear and concise communication style.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using AI tools to support data cleaning, analysis, and presentation of information (as applicable).
  • Previous internship or professional experience in finance, analytics, consulting, operations, or a related quantitative field.
  • Exposure to data analysis, financial modeling, or business intelligence tools beyond Excel/Sheets.

Responsibilities

  • Identify business challenges and opportunities, using data analysis to provide strategic and tactical recommendations.
  • Evolve problem-solving frameworks, develop and test hypotheses, and lead the implementation of new solutions, including developing a monitoring plan.
  • Own the process of reporting and analyzing sales pipeline, bookings, headcount, and productivity to identify trends and opportunities for growth.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly analysis to track sales quota achievement.
  • Drive the health of the business through performance monitoring, analysis, process improvements, and key insights.
  • Provide critical analytical and administrative support for the annual planning process, specifically supporting the design and implementation of sales territory strategy.
  • Manage ongoing escalations and act as a key cross-functional point of contact, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Support various strategic sales operations projects.
