About The Position

The Sales Manager is responsible for soliciting past and new business for multiple properties to achieve revenue goals. This role involves managing accounts to ensure guest satisfaction and detailing and servicing larger events as needed. The position requires developing and maintaining knowledge of market trends, competition, and customers, while also performing supportive functions such as servicing events and working closely with the catering department. The Sales Manager must maintain open communication with all property-operating departments and perform room inspections, which requires bending, stooping, reaching overhead, and moving throughout guest room floors.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Strong sales skills with proven sales techniques and ability to up sell products and services.
  • Ability to analyze complex statistical data and make sound judgments accordingly.
  • Considerable skill in the use of a calculator to prepare moderately complex mathematical calculations without error.
  • Ability to access and accurately input and retrieve information using a moderately complex computer system.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers, and patrons.
  • Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach and move continuously to oversee area and inspect rooms and public areas on all floors of the property.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce and diagramming software is essential.
  • Graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.
  • Prior sales experience required.
  • Hotel sales experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit new business using Salesforce reports, outside sales calls, cold calls, etc.
  • Promptly respond to in-bound inquiry calls and follow-up to capture desired business.
  • Maintain an organized system to ensure all viable inquiries are pursued in a timely manner.
  • Return calls, quotes, proposals, and contracts must be completed in a timely manner.
  • Accurately block rooms and space in systems.
  • Utilize standardized contracts and proposals, call log, and reporting functionality.
  • Maintain positive relationship with existing clients, keep up to date client profiles on each client and effectively utilize this information to build rapport and capture future sales (send birthday, anniversary, holiday cards, etc.).
  • Meet, greet and entertain potential and existing clients, providing information regarding the property to increase sales.
  • Travel locally and out of city/state as necessary to attend trade shows, conduct outside sales calls, promote the property, examine competition, or research potential clients.
  • Move throughout property to conduct site inspections, reporting any repairs or areas requiring maintenance to the appropriate department.
  • Tour existing, former and potential clients, providing information about the property and by utilizing and effective and positive sales technique.
  • Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers.
  • Service events.
  • Attend all property meetings as necessary.
  • Work closely with the catering department to generate new business and service accounts.
  • Promptly and effectively use all communication tools including phone, e-mail, fax, mail etc.
  • Perform room inspections, which requires bending, stooping, reaching overhead and moving throughout guest room floors.
  • Maintain open communication with all property-operating departments.
  • Cross training, assisting in other departments, etc.
