About The Position

The Sales Manager is responsible for proactively generating new business and growing revenue across multiple market segments, including Group, Corporate, Government, Association, SMERF (Social, Military, Educational, Religious, and Fraternal), Leisure, Sports, Entertainment, and other assigned markets. The role focuses on developing strategic client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and maximizing room, banquet, catering, and ancillary revenue while positioning Ala Moana Hotel by Mantra as the preferred destination for meetings, events, corporate travel, and group accommodations. Working collaboratively with Operations, Convention Services, Reservations, Revenue Management, and Food & Beverage teams, the Sales Manager delivers exceptional customer service while achieving budgeted revenue, room night, and profitability goals.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in hotel sales, hospitality sales, or business development.
  • Strong knowledge of group, corporate, catering, meetings, and leisure sales.
  • Understanding of hotel operations, revenue management, and event planning.
  • Excellent sales, negotiation, presentation, and closing skills.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking abilities.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and hotel sales/CRM systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret production reports and market data.
  • Professional judgment, initiative, and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively solicit, develop, and manage a diverse portfolio of accounts across Corporate, Government, Association, SMERF, Leisure, Sports, Entertainment, and other segments
  • Generate new business through prospecting, networking, sales calls, client visits, and industry events
  • Achieve sales goals including room nights, banquet, catering, and total account production
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans, identify new opportunities, and drive market share growth
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through ongoing communication and account servicing
  • Conduct client meetings, hotel tours, site inspections, and presentations
  • Monitor account production and develop strategic account plans for long-term growth
  • Represent the hotel at trade shows, networking events, and community organizations
  • Prepare proposals, contracts, and agreements in a timely and accurate manner
  • Negotiate pricing and terms within approved guidelines
  • Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the sales cycle
  • Ensure all contract details and event information are communicated to internal teams
  • Coordinate group business from contract through arrival in partnership with Convention Services and Operations
  • Prepare and distribute group resumes, BEOs, and event documentation
  • Coordinate VIP amenities, special requests, and guest needs
  • Monitor billing, deposits, and invoicing while resolving discrepancies
  • Partner with Revenue Management on pricing and group strategy
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and demand patterns
  • Recommend pricing and promotional strategies to optimize performance
  • Maintain accurate records in CRM systems and track account activity
  • Complete reports, forecasts, and production analysis
  • Maintain pipeline visibility across tentative, contracted, and definite business
  • Partner with Operations, F&B, Reservations, and other departments to ensure seamless guest experiences
  • Share leads, market intelligence, and best practices with the team
  • Support hotel initiatives, promotions, and cross-selling efforts
  • Deliver exceptional service throughout the sales and event lifecycle
  • Respond to inquiries and resolve issues professionally and efficiently
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and inclusion
  • Represent the hotel with professionalism while maintaining confidentiality and compliance
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support business needs
