About The Position

Ocean Holidays is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead day-to-day sales performance and operations. The role combines hands-on people leadership, commercial oversight, operational management, and regular coaching. The Sales Manager will work with the Head of Sales and the wider Sales Management team to deliver commercial objectives and ensure agents have the direction, support, and accountability to succeed. Previous travel sales experience is essential, particularly telephone-based holiday sales and an understanding of the customer journey from enquiry to booking. The role includes taking ownership of individual and team performance against KPIs and commercial targets; monitoring sales, revenue, profit, conversion, and productivity; and using data and judgement to identify opportunities and address underperformance. The Sales Manager will conduct regular one-to-ones, call reviews, and practical coaching, agree development actions, and follow up on their impact. They will also manage workloads and priorities, maintain customer and operational standards, contribute to planning and forecasting, support recruitment and onboarding, and manage probation, absence, and performance reviews in line with company processes. Success is measured by commercial results, sustained improvements in agents’ sales skills and call quality, fair and effective performance management, consistent customer and operational standards, and a positive team culture. The quarterly bonus is linked to agreed performance measures. The role is 40 hours per week. Ocean Holidays’ sales operation is open seven days a week, and some weekend working is required. The role offers significant remote-working flexibility, but attendance at the office is required when requested for business needs, so reasonable flexibility around office attendance is expected.

Requirements

  • Significant experience selling holidays or travel in a target-driven environment, with a strong understanding of telephone selling and the enquiry-to-booking journey.
  • Previous experience managing or leading a sales team, with a proven track record of achieving targets and improving team performance.
  • Proven experience coaching salespeople at different levels and translating coaching into measurable improvements in behaviour and performance.
  • Ability to identify what is holding an individual back and adapt coaching to their needs.
  • Strong call-review and feedback skills, including turning observations into practical development actions and following up on improvements.
  • Confidence using sales, conversion, quality, and commercial data to distinguish individual development needs from wider operational issues and prioritise action.
  • Ability to set clear expectations, manage underperformance fairly, and hold people accountable while maintaining supportive working relationships.
  • Commercial focus while maintaining excellent customer outcomes.
  • Strong communication and organisation skills, with judgement to balance daily sales priorities, customer needs, and longer-term team development.
  • Ability to work independently when remote while remaining a visible, engaged member of the Sales Management team.
  • Reasonable flexibility to attend the office when requested for business requirements.
  • Availability for some weekend working.
