The purpose of this position is to increase profits by increasing room sales and generating business through aggressive sales efforts, discretion, and judgment. This role affects business operations and profitability through independent sales efforts and has the discretionary ability to manage rates, product lines, and commit operational hotel departments. The Sales Manager sells all product lines of the hotel including catering, rooms, packages, lounge, and restaurant promotions, and maximizes revenue through appropriate negotiations with customers. This role solicits business, qualifies client needs, and forwards business to the appropriate Sales/Catering Manager. The Sales Manager participates in the completion of all appropriate forms for in-house communication (room blocks, BEOs, rooming lists, etc.), follows up with the proper department to ensure commitments are met, and coordinates food and beverage requirements with the Catering department. They maintain proper documentation of records and files for follow-up and future reference, participate in sales blitzes, and solicit accounts within the market segment through outside and telephone solicitation, targeting accounts with business viability. The Sales Manager participates in weekly Sales/Catering Department meetings, Saturday office coverage (if necessary), shows clients hotel facilities by giving tours, meets budget and booking goals monthly, attends sales seminars (including out-of-state), and entertains clients to solicit business. Additionally, this role provides for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules, and performs additional duties as requested.
