The Sales Manager is responsible for effectively soliciting and becoming familiar with all accounts in his/her market segments. He/she is also responsible for prospecting and closing on assigned accounts/territory to positively impact hotel revenues. This role requires developing a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotel, including Food and Beverage, Guest Services and Reservations. The Sales Manager must develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOP’s and ensure knowledge of and adherence to those policies by the sales team. They will meet or exceed set goals and operate the Sales Department within established sales expense budget. This role also involves participating in M.O.D. and Saturday office coverage as scheduled, initiating and following up on leads, and maintaining and participating in an active sales solicitation program. Monitoring production of all top accounts and evaluating trends within your market, regularly contacting existing accounts based on the tracing frequencies of the Account Coverage Program, and meeting or exceeding sales solicitation call goals as assigned by the Director of Sales are key functions. The Sales Manager will invite clients to the hotel for entertainment, lunches, tours and site inspections, and assist in implementing special promotions relating to direct sales segments, such as sales parties and sales blitzes. Assisting in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner and being familiar with all Embassy Suites by Hilton sales policies and selling techniques with an emphasis on maximizing occupancy and Average Daily Rate (ADR) are also crucial. Conducting a professional, thorough site inspection of the hotel with clients, exhibiting key features and benefits of the property, and using the property’s computerized sales management system to manage the hotel’s business, including generating reports, entering business, blocking space and building accounts, are essential duties. Meeting and greeting onsite contacts and abiding by Prime Selling Time (PST) are also required. Developing networking opportunities through active participation in community and professional associations, activities and events, and reviewing meeting planner evaluations with the DOS to ensure that issues receive follow-up are part of the role. Entertaining clients and handling inquiries as part of the Inquiry Day Program are also responsibilities.
