About The Position

This position includes personal production, building and coaching a mortgage sales team. The Sales Manager is responsible for recruiting and training new mortgage loan officers. Adherence to compliance standards and other duties as assigned are also expected. The role requires a professional demeanor, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage and develop a team. Banking is a highly regulated industry, and the individual must maintain proficiency in the Bank's policies and procedures, adhering to all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, including completing all assigned compliance training in a timely manner. The role also involves direct supervision of employees in the Mortgage Lending Department, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraisal, and problem resolution.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED, required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with a proven track record in a sales leadership role required.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • NMLS registration required.
  • Windows based computer skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office systems.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities

  • Produces and maintains relationships with builders, realtors, and financial planners.
  • Builds relationships and cross-sells opportunities with Bank’s personnel and branches.
  • Looks for opportunities for growth.
  • Trains and develops loan officers on a one-on-one basis regarding activities related to the position.
  • Coaches individual loan officers in the skills of conducting sales meetings and calling procedures with realtors.
  • Holds timely sales/training meetings for loan officers to provide ongoing reinforcement and training.
  • Prepares and updates timely reporting of production, goals achieved, commissions, and other related activities.
  • Monitors and reports progress of loan officers on activities related to shared goals with other business partners.
  • Provides timely communication with Regional Management staff on activities of the individual lending area.
  • Directly supervises two to eight employees in the Mortgage Lending Department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
