About The Position

Groupon is opening a brand-new Business Development site in Dallas-Fort Worth and is looking for a leader to establish and manage it from day one. This role offers significant ownership over the team's operations, culture, and development, with direct reporting from sales representatives. The initial phase involves the leader carrying a reduced book of business for 6-8 weeks to gain firsthand experience and enhance coaching abilities. The position focuses on leading merchant acquisition, developing the team through personalized coaching and feedback, and shaping the identity and culture of the new Dallas site.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience leading/managing a team of 8–20 outbound SMB or merchant-facing reps.
  • Experience in coaching and reviewing calls.
  • Experience maintaining team energy and activity through challenging periods post-onboarding.
  • A track record of retaining and growing reps under leadership.
  • Based in and connected to the DFW area.
  • Approximately 1-2 years of front-line leadership experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a strong individual performer before moving into management.
  • Experience building training or ramp support for new hires.
  • Background in SMB, local-merchant, or marketplace sales.
  • Comfort using AI tools for coaching and pipeline management.
  • Genuine interest in establishing a new site, understanding that it involves ambiguity.

Responsibilities

  • Running the floor day to day, monitoring team activity and engagement, especially for newly onboarded representatives.
  • Carrying a lighter book of business for the first 6-8 weeks to ensure coaching is based on current experience.
  • Utilizing data to understand individual representative performance and provide appropriate support.
  • Coaching and developing the sales team through weekly 1:1s, pipeline reviews, and team check-ins.
  • Making decisions about representative development and support needs.
  • Owning new business acquisition for the site and leading merchant acquisition efforts.
  • Staying close to the day-to-day work to assist the team with negotiations.
  • Setting and maintaining a high standard for deal quality.
  • Growing the team over time, potentially leveraging personal networks in the DFW area.
  • Helping to shape the culture, habits, and identity of the new Dallas site.
