About The Position

We are hiring a construction sales and estimating professional to grow residential builder accounts and support project pricing within a specialty contractor environment focused on insulation, fireplaces, and builder services. This role is a blend of relationship-driven sales, estimating, and account management. The right candidate will be able to develop builder relationships, review plans, prepare accurate bids, follow up on opportunities, and help convert projects into awarded work. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands residential construction, can communicate confidently with builders and developers, and is comfortable owning both the sales pipeline and estimating process from start to finish.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in construction sales, estimating, builder services, specialty contracting, or a related field
  • Experience working directly with residential builders, developers, or production homebuilding accounts
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and project scopes
  • Ability to independently own both business development and estimating responsibilities
  • Residential construction experience required; commercial-only backgrounds without builder exposure will not be a fit
  • Strong communication, negotiation, organization, and customer relationship management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple bids, accounts, follow-ups, and project opportunities at once

Nice To Haves

  • Experience estimating insulation, fireplaces, building products, or related specialty trade scopes strongly preferred
  • Existing relationships within the Kansas City builder market are highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with residential builders, contractors, developers, and production homebuilding accounts
  • Identify new business opportunities through referrals, networking, direct outreach, and local market visibility
  • Review blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications to identify insulation, fireplace, and related specialty scope opportunities
  • Prepare accurate estimates, pricing proposals, bid packages, and scope clarifications for residential and light commercial projects
  • Meet with builders, project stakeholders, vendors, and internal operations teams to support account growth and project execution
  • Negotiate pricing, scope adjustments, project expectations, and bid details with customers and production teams
  • Track active bids, follow up on open opportunities, and maintain consistent sales pipeline activity
  • Support project handoff by clearly communicating awarded scope, pricing, schedules, and job requirements to operations teams
  • Monitor local builder activity, competitor presence, and market trends to support growth strategy
  • Maintain organized records of bids, proposals, customer communication, follow-ups, and account activity
