This role performs estimating tasks to qualify bid requests and prepare estimates/proposals for telecommunications, AV, and electrical integration projects according to customer specifications.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
  • High school diploma; supplemental knowledge of the telecommunications industry desirable.
  • Minimum of ten years experience in the structured cabling industry in either installation or estimating practices.
  • Above average computer aided drafting and mathematical skills preferred.
  • Basic understanding of networking telecommunications, A/V and electrical components.
  • Thorough understanding of the EIA/TIA telecommunications standards.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work unsupervised.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M and customer safety policies and procedures.
  • Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M employment policies and procedures.
  • Performs estimating of all field and testing hours and validates all materials and equipment costs necessary to provide a complete scope of work.
  • Conducts field surveys and attends pre-bid meetings as required to prepare accurate estimates.
  • Has knowledge of the latest industry materials, installation techniques and attends related training sessions.
  • Assists in keeping current estimating system and spreadsheets up to date by material costs and labor unit validation.
  • Performs basic AutoCad tasks such as plotting, overlays and symbol translation.
  • Maintains a close working relationship with BAS, electrical construction, high voltage, and life safety & security estimators to maximize business opportunities.
  • Attends and provides weekly estimating updates at our weekly NS operational meetings.
  • Meets with customers both existing and new to determine their specific needs and offers cost effective alternatives.
  • Performs project and service kick off meetings when needed.
  • Attends customer requested project meetings to review on-going project work.
  • Regularly recommends improved methods of design, estimation and installation practices.
