About The Position

The Sales Engineer (SE) plays a critical role in driving revenue growth by delivering high-quality pre-sales technical support, product demonstrations, and value-focused presentations to prospective buyers. Acting as a solution specialist, the SE collaborates closely with sales teams to understand technical requirements and design optimal solutions for prospects. This position focuses on key strategic initiatives, including vertical markets, System Integrators, and Channel Partners. The individual will report directly to the Regional Director and must possess strong enterprise consulting expertise and a thorough understanding of the complex B2B sales cycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Formal presentation or public speaking training.
  • Formal pre-sales methodology training (e.g., Sandler, Target Account Selling, Command of the Message, etc.).
  • 7+ years of experience in a Pre-Sales Engineer, Network Support Engineer, or Technical Solutions Consultant role.
  • 5+ years of specialized experience in Network Observability, Network Performance Monitoring (NPM), Application Performance Management (APM), or AIOps.
  • Proven track record of success supporting enterprise account teams and helping achieve technical win status and revenue goals.
  • Strong background in networking, applications, and core operating systems (Linux/Windows).
  • Regional business acumen and familiarity with local market dynamics.
  • Networking & Protocols: Cisco routing, switching, and gateways; TCP/IP, SNMP, NetFlow, IPFIX, VoIP, LAN/WAN topologies (MPLS, SD-WAN).
  • Architecture & Infrastructure: Network Performance Management, Fault/Alert Management, Trend Analysis, SDN/NFV, Virtualization, and Public/Private Cloud environments.
  • Security & Operations: Network & Cyber Security concepts, AI Operations (AIOps), and SOC environments.
  • Ecosystem Integrations: Experience with SIEM, Observability, and ITSM platforms (e.g., Splunk, ServiceNow, etc.).
  • RFI/RFP & Audits: Hands-on experience responding to RFIs/RFPs.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and whiteboard communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Self-motivated drive to continuously refine technical expertise and sales process execution.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA is a plus.
  • Experience participating in security or compliance audits is a plus.
  • CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Account Managers and Regional Leadership to build integrated technical and business strategies that maximize win rates.
  • Investigate customer pain points, uncover compelling business drivers, and design tailored technical solutions to address specific challenges.
  • Assist Sales teams in making key tactical decisions, accurately forecasting technical milestones, and driving opportunities to close.
  • Provide specialized technical guidance using industry best practices and available solution engineering resources.
  • Establish credibility across customer IT silos to map out infrastructure, uncover technical roadblocks, and identify expansion opportunities.
  • Lead technical validation activities, including executing Proof of Concepts (PoCs), managing competitive bake-offs, delivering live product demonstrations, and facilitating whiteboard architecture sessions (in-person or virtually).
  • Maintain ongoing touchpoints with existing users to identify new scenarios, drive platform adoption, and surface upsell opportunities.
  • Successfully navigate complex multi-partner environments, including working with multiple System Integrators within a single customer network.
  • Travel within assigned territory/region estimated at 40%–50%.
