About The Position

At 8x8, Sales Engineers are vital technical sales resources with strong technical knowledge, industry curiosity, and proven sales acumen. We're looking for a dynamic Sales Engineer to join our Commercial / Small Business team, supporting a high-velocity sales motion where speed, repeatability, and customer empathy matter as much as technical depth. The SE must articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical audiences, identify the technical issues of assigned accounts and opportunities, and ensure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales cycle. You'll work closely with Account Executives, Sales Managers, and the broader regional SE team — running demos, scoping solutions, and helping customers see how 8x8's CX platform fits their business. AI fluency is a baseline expectation, not a bonus. We expect every SE to use AI tools daily to move faster, prepare smarter, and deliver higher-quality work. If you're not actively using AI in your workflow today, this role isn't the right fit.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Consultant, or in a technical pre-sales role.
  • Direct CCaaS / CPaaS / CX industry experience is preferred but not required — strong SE craft (discovery, demoing, technical qualification, objection handling) in an adjacent technology space is welcome.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrable use of AI tools in current role — at minimum a general-purpose assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, or equivalent), with evidence of specific workflows where AI has changed how you work.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills focused on needs analysis, positioning, business justification, and closing techniques.
  • Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Action-oriented with strong personal initiative and learning velocity — comfortable picking up a new product domain quickly.
  • Coachable, collaborative, and team-oriented.
  • Comfortable in a high-volume environment where reps and deals move fast.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% within the region for customer and partner engagements.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AI-enhanced sales tools (Gong, Chorus, Clari) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical presentations and demonstrations to showcase the value and capabilities of 8x8's products.
  • Provide industry, technical, and product knowledge to 8x8 partners and customers.
  • Develop and maintain an expert understanding of all 8x8 applications and products.
  • Assist in developing technical proposals and RFP responses to meet customer requirements.
  • Develop advanced system configurations to provide a customized demo experience.
  • Lead targeted discovery conversations to understand customer pain points, current state, and desired outcomes.
  • Use AI tools as part of daily workflow — discovery prep, demo customization, RFP drafting, follow-up summarization, research, competitive prep — to deliver more, faster, and at higher quality.
  • Work with internal teams to provide feedback on product enhancements and feature requests based on customer and partner input.
  • Document actions and follow-ups per Sales Engineering best practices (SE Notes, SE Sentiment, opportunity hygiene).
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitive landscape, and the evolving AI tooling ecosystem.
  • Collaborate actively with the regional SE team — share what you learn (including AI workflows that worked) and contribute to a culture of mutual support.
  • Represent 8x8 at conferences, industry, and sales events when requested.
